Socket Push-up 18thC Brass Candle Holders Candlesticks NOT CAST

EXCEPTIONAL PAIR Early 1700's Brass Socket Push-up Candle Holders Candlesticks. Stunning set of 2 Part very Early 18th Century Brass Candle Holders with spun bases.

These are quite light not the heavy ones and when a magnifying glass is used the seams on the hollow trunks can be seen & they run the length of the socket with the push-up mechanism. The Side Sockets Move Freely. Each area of the holders was hammered thin then "put-together" by a master metal smith.

The base was wheel spun with the rope design being hammered in which was done during the 1700's. The style/pattern is attributed to French Huguenot design. The tops unscrew freely from the base (also dating to the 1700's) and the interior push-ups are in wonderful condition moving freely.

8 1/4" in height x base is 4 1/4" in diameter. The base on both sits level, the top neck on one has a minor tilt (it can be easily leveled but I don't want to alter what is age appropriate) and the trunk shows minor wear by the socket of the push-up.
