It will not be read and will be deleted instantly. 325 year old original Federal Period 1700's brass candlesticks. Signed by hand in cursive writing: "SOL LA HAIRE" on each base. I believe it's French.

Made during the lifetime and reign of Marie Antoinette. To tell these are original Federal Period correct. These candlesticks are halved and seamed and soldered. Notice the vertical seam lines going up and down top to bottom, on all 4 sides of the 2 sticks.

2 Soldered seamed lines on each stick. That is 2 molded halves together for each one. How they are made is, the Coppersmith made a mold out of carved, chiseled wood for the shape and design of the candlestick profile.

Then a flat piece of brass is hammered into the mold producing the shape. That was done once for each whole stick. Then that hammered mold is cast in sand. Then liquid brass is poured into these sand molds and multiple halves are produced.

Put 2 multiples together and seam solder them top to bottom and that is what you get. All produced all by hand. On the bases of each one on their underside, you can see dozens of rings where the Coppersmith spun a block of brass, while carving it to get the round shape and the desired thickness and diameter. Also notice on both, the bolts coming through the bottom.

First a block of brass again is spun on a lathe, and carved round to diameter and length desired, then threads are carved into the sides, around 100% by hand. The 2 bolt halves molds are seamed and soldered poured in the middle together to make the bolt. There was no machinery back then to do any of this work. Still holding up like brand new 300+ years later. Very rare to find these Federal era period and signed.
