Super nice and rare Virginia Metalcrafters copper and brass lantern made for Colonial Williamsburg. It has a brass spike inside that you would put a candle on and it won't move around. The last photo shows a pillar candle, but I used a beeswax taper and that worked too. This is large 8" by 8" by 15. Last photo is from a VM catalog. I've had two people ask about hallmarks. I've never seen one with a hallmark that I could find.

Two companies (Baldwin Brass and Bombay) tried to make a couple of their items like trivets, candlesticks and sconces and they were immediately served with cease and desist orders so there are not many of them out there. I bought about a dozen of these lanterns in Williamsburg right after VM closed it's doors and none of them were hallmarked that I could find. But who knows maybe it's hallmarked in some weird obscure place. I also added two photos of an old memo VM sent to retailers.
