Pair Iconic David Marshall Brass and Aluminium'Puzzle' Candlesticks c. 1970

This is a rare pair of highly modernist, polished brass and aluminium candle sticks by the highly collectible and internationally known sculptor David Marshall, in what is often referred to as the'Brutalist' genre. These would have been produced in the 1970's when the artist began creating sculptures from recycled metals after he had relocated to Spain during the mid 1960's.

These are referred to as'Puzzle Sticks', as their two bases are formed to fit into one another. One of them measures approx 9" tall and the other approx 8 1/4" tall.

Their bases are 4 1/2" and 4 3/4" across respectively. They really are striking and refreshingly different! The leather on each base is in very good condition.
