These are very fine and very early antique 16th-17th century brass / bronze candlesticks of European origin. They have high copper content, similar to bell metal and/or bronze (note the coppery color).

Solid cast construction in two pieces with the shaft turned by hand and peened to the base underneath with cast-in bobeches. Note the wide flaring bobeches with the circular turned detail, as in the bases; this is a characteristic of very early'sticks. With hand made candlesticks like this no two candlesticks exactly match. Please examine the photos carefully. Bases: 5 3/8 inches diameter.
