Fine Antique 1650 Tall Spanish Brass Candlestick Candle Holder Nice Paw Feet

Very fine antique 17th century (C 1650) Spanish baluster turned candlestick / candle holder made out of brass or bronze. The base is a double triangle above 3 nicely cast paw feet. The detailed baluster stem was attached to the base by means of hand-cut threads. There are nice turning lines along the length of the stem, under the candle cup and above.

The candle cup has a flat edge which inclines about half way toward the stem and is of the earlier plainer, straighter, cylindrical type of these. This candlestick was originally cast in 5 parts, the triangular base, a triangular plate atop the base, the baluster stem, the candle drip cup, and the nozzle. It sits flat and straight and has one area of an old repair around where the drip cup was screwed to the stem (solder was added to tighten this attachment). Great and even patina from age.

I do love these early ones. Base is 7 per triangle side.
