Antique Girandole 3 Arm Candle Holder Candelabra Bear and Beehive NY Brass

Antique Brass Girandole 3-Arm Candle Holder Candelabra "Bear and Beehive" NY. What a beautiful vintage candelabra from the mid to late 1800's. It is made in the USA in either New York or Philadelphia. The manufacturers and assemblers of these girandole's back then were Cornelius-Baker and Archer-Warner, both of Philadelphia, R. Dietz and Starr-Fellows, both of New York.

Although they were not usually signed and it was hard to tell who made each piece. It is most likely a Starr-Fellows because he produced the pattern of this piece, "Bear and Beehive". This one does not have a signature but we did find an X on it inside of the grape ring. See pics for image of X.

Starr-Fellows was also known to produce the star and snowflake triangular prisms which this one has. It contains all (24) of the floral prisms but one is broke. Most of the prisms have little chips out of the corners. When put on the back side you cannot even notice that the one is broke.

They are easily put back on. The candelabra piece is made of brass and has gold gilding. The gold has tarnished some over the past 125 - 150 years. But the brass piece is in great condition otherwise.

This is a one-sided piece so it was probably used on a table next to the wall. The marble base is heavy and has slightly rough edges and holds the piece up nicely. The brass comes apart in two pieces. It has a felt bottom. It measures 14 1/2" Tall x 15" W x 4 D.
