Antique Brass Kosmos Brenner Hanging Pull Down Library Oil Lamp, Candle Holders
This is a rare original antique Kosmos Brenner hanging oil lamp with original glass shade and part of the pull-down mechanism (the ceiling canopy with the wheels is intact, but the weight that once hung from the center to complete the pull-down function is missing). The entire frame is solid brass and features three arms with two candle holders each, to hold a total of six taper candles. The entire piece is in very good original condition and the oil lamp appears to be functional. The wick knob and wick are intact and the knob rolls the wick up, but not easily (it has to be turned very hard to expose the wick). There are a few cracks in the brass on the lamp font, but under the brass is solid glass, so it should not leak, and the cracks are only cosmetic. There is one tiny crack in the top edge of the lamp holder, also cosmetic. The shade has a crack down one side that has been glued. There might be a couple tiny flakes around the edges of the shade, but it is otherwise flawless, and the clear glass chimney looks perfect. The brass appears to have been polished, but not recently, and has acquired a slightly aged patina. The brass frame measures 18" across the candle holders, the shade measures 12" in diameter, and the fixture hangs down a total of 38 from the ceiling. All pieces will be packed securely inside a double walled box, fully insured.
