ANTIQUE 18THC DUTCH BRASS CANDLE LANTERN 1740C. The domed stepped top displays repousse and pierced decorations with floral, leaf and gadrooned motifs. The six original probable horn windows have been replaced with green tinted vintage glass. Construction is solid with some minor solder repairs, and other than windows, the object is has its all original components including brass feet, candle cup, and hanging ring.

The glass windows, are secured with metal clips, which may at some point have been repaired or replaced. The quality of the piercing as well as the star pattern repousse work is seen in the pictures. Height approximately 17 inches, base diameter 8 inches, weight 3 lbs 7 oz. A rare and important candle lantern of the 1740's and possibly earlier.
