Vintage Pierced Brass Moroccan Lantern/ Turkish Pendant Teardrop Lamp

This is for a single shaped - hanging candle / tea light / push on light holder. Items like these are usually from Turkey, Persia, Morocco, but they are also referred to as Oajar, Islamic, and Mosque lamps.

What is clear is they are Middle Eastern metalwork. This beautiful piece would have been hand crafted in the late 1890's to early 1900's.

This one measures 12 inches tall with a 7.5 inch. Chain making the total height with this and the hook 19.5 inches tall.

It has a pulley system that allows the top piece to open up away from the bottom piece to place the candle or light in the base. When a light is added you get wonderful shadows on a wall if close, candles also can work for this, or new push on lights in colors.

Please see picture where I show one used! Because this one has moving parts and the pieces separate it is easy to get a candle / light in and out of it. These types of lanterns have delicate hand cut filigree in shapes, flowers or scrolls to give the item an intricate pattern. They are crafted from solid brass and have aged and darkened over time. Please note all the pictures to see the wonderful condition of this item!

They are ready to hang and use to display and add a bit of shabby chic history to where displayed! I may or may not know details but do spend time researching information to provide details the best I can and to pass along fair prices. I take all my own pictures in my home and as such try and get all the colors as true to correct as possible.
