RARE EARLY 18TH C FRENCH BRASS CANDLESTICK BALUSTER FORM GREAT SHAPED BASE. WE JUST BOUGHT A COLLECTION OF ABOUT 20 17TH AND 18TH CENTURY BRASS CANDLESTICKS OUT OF A COLLECTION DOWN SOUTH AND WILL BE OFFERING THEM OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. THEY ARE ALL IN OLD GRUNGY COLOR AND IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION. IN GREAT CONDITION AND GREAT OLD COLOR AND PATINA.

Great early form with an OCTAGONAL STEPPED BASE AND A WELL DEFINED FLUTED STEM. Made in the typical early 18th century manner. The turnings on the shaft are heavy and deep. It has a single clean out hole on the side.

The color is grungy and untouched deep and yellow. The condition is nice, just the minor dings and surface abrasions you would expect from over 300 years of use. The stick is is still tight.

It has not been cleaned or polished in a very long time. Approximately 9" tall and the base is about 5". For a similar example, see, "Early American Antique Country Furnishings", by George Neumann, as well as "The Brass Book", by Schiffer, page 187. Typical wear and imperfections with age.
