Carl Aubock Austria Brass Glass Hurricane Candle Holder Lantern MCM Vintage

This hurricane candle holder from the Carl Auböck workshop has an elegantly simple form. The X base has a candle cup with a drip rim in the center.

The long vertical loop functions as a handle, and the thick-walled glass hurricane is perfectly fitted and held securely in place between the handle and the shorter posts. It would have originally had a cap piece that sat on the top rim of the glass.

That piece would overhang, and slots in the sides would have allowed for fitting it in between the arms of the handle. This is a nice, less often seen design from the. 4.75" deep x 4.75" wide x 16 high. Marked " Auböck Made in Austria". Light overall wear with some minor marks and scratches.

Oxidation to the surface of the brass. A few minor imperfections to the glass like bubbles and an impression (like a shallow dent). That happened in the making. Some scuffs to glass (no cracks or chips).

Please keep this in mind especially with clothing items. Always use measurements for sizing purposes because vintage sizing and contemporary sizing can vary substantially.
