Antique Gilt Brass Gemstones BLUE Glass Vigil Light St. MARY Altar Candle Lamp

This extraordinarily fine late 1800's-early 1900's sanctuary lamp from the mary Altar of an Ohio Catholic Church features gilt pierced brass frame mounted with 14 faceted paste gemstones of Czechoslovakian art glass and a mouth blown cobalt blue liner. Measuring 13 1/2" tall x 6" diameter (base), the blue insert is free of cracks and chips and measures 8 1/2" tall x 4 7/8" at the flared top x 3 1/4 at the base.

The surface is from a 1980's refurbishing and is pleasingly golden with good open work details. The bolts that hold the frame together (unsee) were replaced at that time. All of the faceted art glass gems are in place and none is chipped or cracked. Rubies, emeralds, sapphires, spinels, topaz and diamonds are represented in recognition of the various attributes of the Blessed Virgin.
